Precisely and fast through low cost automation

In this application, Dipl.-Ing. Artur Wiebe automates the opening of a bottle with the help of the Delta robot from igus. The 3-axis robot and a small parts gripper detach the lid from the bottle by rotating the gripper several times around its own axis. With a working diameter of 360 mm, the Delta robot is ideal for applications with small parts. With a precision accuracy of 0.5 mm and a maximum speed of 3 m per second, the robot performs its tasks precisely and quickly.

Laboratories offer a lot of automation potential. Pick and place tasks occur there on a large scale and generate high costs if they are carried out by employees. When automated, the ROI is usually achieved within a few months. In this application example, an igus Scara robot was used to sort the test tubes. The Scara has four degrees of freedom and can hold a payload of up to 2 kg. Thanks to the high precision of the robot, the process was easy to automate.

The handling of customer-specific turned parts was successfully demonstrated during a recent customer test. The Robolink DP 5-axis robot, equipped with a pneumatic small parts gripper, demonstrated its ability to efficiently handle complex pick-and-place tasks. The Robolink DP is known for its modularity and flexibility and enables precise control over five independent axes. The use of the pneumatic gripper, which is designed for handling small and delicate parts, allowed the robot to securely grip and precisely place the turned parts. This test underlines the robot's potential for customized automation solutions in the manufacturing industry.
